This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. The online portion of this blended course features award-winning simulation learning an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting, which will prepare you for the instructor-led classroom skill session.

The online portion must be completed before attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a Flash-enabled PC with a high-speed Internet connection. Allow 2 hours 45 minutes to complete the online part if you are new to First Aid/CPR/AED training or 55 minutes if you have previously received certification. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Online components need to be completed before attending the skills session.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the number of jobs for Phlebotomy Technicians is expected to continue to grow by as much as 20% in 2018, due to a population that enjoys a longer life expectancy and new and improved medical testing procedures. The positive outlook for Phlebotomy careers also benefits from a variety of medical settings that employs these specialized technicians.

Phlebotomists have the option of finding work in hospitals, blood donation centers, and on-site blood testing facilities. The choice of where to practice depends upon the desires of each individual. Hospitals may offer more competitive wages, but they are harder to gain employment due to a high volume of applicants. On-site testing centers provide an attractive option because they give the added perk of the ability to travel while working.

Overall, the medical industry is continually growing and making advancements in the way we treat patients. Therefore careers in the industry are expected to continue to grow steadily for at least the next few years. As the healthcare industry expands through technological advances in medicine along with the growth and aging of the population, there will be an increased need for all types of healthcare workers. Due to the pandemic, there are more vacancies for phlebotomists.
